Screens and technology are pervasive in our daily lives, but not everyone has equal access. The digital divide committee seeks to bridge the gap between those who can use technology and those who cannot. This divide impacts various areas, such as online opportunities for the rich versus the poor, rural internet access, and the older generation's struggle with technology. The committee aims to ensure that everyone can benefit from the internet in tasks ranging from scheduling appointments to making payments.

Empowering Seniors Project
A Youth-Led Program Helping Seniors Thrive with Technology
Empowering Seniors is a 100% youth-developed and youth-run initiative designed to bridge the digital divide for older adults. Created by students involved in the Listen to Lead a Scouting America program, this project pairs high school and college-aged leaders with seasoned professionals to tackle real-life challenges—starting with tech literacy for seniors.
From smartphones and tablets to video calls and online safety, our youth mentors provide patient, one-on-one guidance to help seniors feel more confident and connected in today’s digital world. Whether it’s setting up an email account or learning to stream a grandchild’s school concert, Empowering Seniors ensures no one gets left behind in the age of technology.
What makes this program unique is its origin: inspired and created entirely by young people who care deeply about building intergenerational connections. With the guidance of professionals and a passion for service, these students are proving that when experience meets innovation, lives are truly changed.
